Redmond, Wash.--July 24, 1997--Data I/O Corp. (Redmond, Wash.) announced revenues in the second quarter of 1997 declined approximately 2 percent to $15.0 million compared with $15.3 million in the second quarter of 1996. Revenues in the second quarter of 1997 increased approximately 13 percent in the United States while international revenues declined approximately 14 percent from $8.6 million to $7.4 million. Revenues for the first half of 1997 declined approximately 3 percent from $31.0 million to $30.1 million. Orders in the second quarter of 1997 increased approximately 2 percent to $14.5 million compared with $14.2 million in the same period of 1996.
For the second quarter of 1997, the company recorded net income of $1.38 million, or $0.20 per share compared with a net loss of $706,000, or $0.10 per share, in the same period in 1996. Included in the net income figure for the second quarter of 1997 is a gain on the sale and leaseback of the corporate headquarters facility of $2.35 million. Additionally, a gain of $3.25 million was deferred and will be amortized over a period of ten years coinciding with the leaseback term. Without the headquarters sale, the company would have recorded a loss of $969,000, or $0.14 per share in the second quarter. For the first half of 1997, the company recorded net income of $1.42 million, or $0.20 per share, compared with a net loss of $644,000, or $0.09 per share, in the first half of 1996.
