Itasca, Ill.--July 22, 1997-- NEC Technologies (Itasca, Ill.) appointed Terry Bailey, Ph.D., COO and executive vice president.
He previously held the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing for the company. Bailey will report to chairman, president, and CEO Toschiichi Ishii.
In his new role, Bailey will continue to spearhead the development of strategies and tactics that support NEC Technologies' highly aggressive vision and customer-focused, entrepreneurial operations. Bailey's charge also is to further strengthen the company's industry-leading peripherals role, and pursue multimedia and other future technologies.
Since joining NEC Technologies in July 1996, Bailey's proactive management philosophy and style has led to the integration of sales and marketing planning and execution, the cross-pollination of ideas to create more innovate imaging peripheral product development, and further commitment to its channel and business partners.
This announcement follows the recent unveiling of the company's new strategic vision, advertising campaign and brand identifier, and the debut of several new imaging peripheral products including the MultiSync LCD2000, the first 20.1-inch LCD monitor with wide angle viewing technology; the PlasmaSync 3300, a 33-inch plasma display for the presentation and home markets; and high-end SuperScript laser printers for small office/home office and corporate markets. Additional new imaging peripheral products will be unveiled in the fall.
Furthermore, Ishii, Bailey, and Akira Sugiyama, executive vice president of NEC Technologies, will comprise the newly created office of the chairman. The office of the chairman will manage the strategic direction of NEC Technologies in North America. These appointments end the search for a replacement for former president and COO Jerry Benson who resigned in March.
Before joining NEC Technologies, Bailey headed up the Imaging Peripheral Systems business at Apple Computer Inc. Bailey was responsible for the research and development, sales and marketing management of a full line of products including printers, scanners, digital cameras and advanced display devices. Prior to joining Apple, Bailey served as director of professional color and video marketing at Radius Inc.
