Beaverton, Ore.--July 21, 1997--OrCAD (Beaverton, Ore.) introduced OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition, a new printed circuit board (PCB) design solution which enables engineers to electronically communicate electrical and mechanical constraints to the physical specification of the circuit board. Unlike other engineer-oriented PCB tools, OrCAD's Layout Engineer's Edition gives functionality and flexibility to engineers by enabling them to define placement, perform critical routing, review designs, and design complete circuit boards where autorouting is not needed.
OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition is a subset of OrCAD's Layout product family and has complete database compatibility with all OrCAD Layout products, providing the necessary functionality to create or modify a design. OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition works in conjunction with OrCAD's design entry applications: OrCAD Capture and OrCAD Express.
OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition is targeted at geographically-dispersed design teams, and at teams that outsource their board design, as data can be transferred electronically without translation. Design team members who benefit from OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition include engineers and board designers who do not require an autorouter, mechanical engineers, EDA librarians, and document control and drafting personnel.
OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition is scheduled to ship in July. It is priced at $2,995. Product training and education is available through OrCAD's Professional Services Group.
