Beaverton, Ore.--Aug. 25, 1997--Summit Design Inc. (Beaverton, Ore.) announced that it has named EDA industry veteran Charles E. Cump as its new vice president of North American Sales. Cump brings 12 years of experience in advanced EDA technologies, including behavioral synthesis, simulation, place and route, and design for test to the position. He will report directly to Greg Kott, vice president of worldwide sales at Summit.
Cump joins Summit from DASYS Inc., a start-up behavioral synthesis company in Pittsburgh, PA, where he held the position of vice president, worldwide sales since early 1996. He served as vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at ArcSys (now Avant!) taking the company from $300,000 in revenue in 1993 to $6.4 million in 1994. Prior to ArcSys, Cump was co-founder and president of Sunrise Test Systems before it was acquired byViewlogic in 1994. Cump has also held sales management positions with Vitesse Semiconductor, IKOS Systems, Applied Micro Circuits, and ZyMOS during his career.
