Los Gatos, Calif.--Aug. 26, 1997--Open Verilog International (OVI; Los Gatos, Calif.), an organization that promotes the use of the Verilog hardware description language (HDL), announced that nine corporate members were elected to its 1997/1998 Board at its June meeting. At the meeting this month, the OVI Board re-elected Maqsoodul Mannan to a second term as chairman. Mannan is also the IEEE 1364 (Verilog HDL) Working Group Chairman and National Semiconductor's director of Design Automation.The OVI Board re-elected Dave Burow,Viewlogic's ASIC Group vice-president, as vice-chairman; and elected Sun Microsystems' Director of CAD, Sunil Joshi, as treasurer; and Karen Bartleson, Synopsys' Standards Program Manager, as secretary.
The OVI Board approved holding the 7th annual International Verilog Conference (IVC) and the Spring VHDL International User Forum as a joint conference, IVC/VIUF, on March 16 through 19, and funding for a Faculty Development Workshop at the Technological University of Delft, in the Netherlands, in January, 1998. The workshop is for engineering faculty in Europe who wish to learn more about adding Verilog HDL to their curriculum.
Companies elected to OVI's Board include Avant!, Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, Motorola, National Semiconductor, Sun Microsystems, Synopsys, VeriBest, andViewlogic Systems. Vassilios Gerousis, Motorola's senior staff technologist, continues as OVI's Technical Committee chairman; Professor Michael Ciletti, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Colorado, continues as OVI's university liaison. OVI's members include electronic systems companies, EDA tool vendors, semiconductor companies, universities, and individuals.
