San Jose--Aug. 25, 1997--Altera Corp. (San Jose) announced the EPC1441 configuration EPROM. With 441 kbits and a price of $3.50, the device is 72 percent higher in capacity and costs 68 percent less than its closest competitor.
The EPC1441 was designed to offer low-cost configuration for the new FLEX 6000 family of programmable logic devices (PLDs) which offer 10,000 to 24,000 gates of programmable logic, and is the industry's first PLD family to offer die sizes and costs directly comparable with gate arrays. One EPC1441 can be used to configure FLEX 8000 family devices, as well as selected members of the FLEX 10K family. The EPC1441 offers 441 kbits .One EPC1441 can be used to configure devices up to 30,000 gates in size.
The EPC1441 will be available in Sept. in 32-pin TQFP, 8-pin PDIP, and 20-pin PLCC packages. The 100-unit price is $3.50 each. Volume pricing for the EPC1441 is expected to be $1.50 each in the second half of 1998.
