Milpitas, Calif.--Sept. 25, 1997--Joe M. Zelayeta, a 16-year manufacturing veteran for LSI Logic Corp. (Milpitas), was promoted to executive vice president of Worldwide Operations. LSI Logic also named Norm Armour as the vice president and general manager of Gresham Operations.
Zelayeta, 51, will report to Wilfred J. Corrigan, LSI Logic chairman and CEO. He will oversee the development of the company's worldwide manufacturing capabilities, package development and engineering, purchasing, and customer order management. Most recently, Zelayeta has been the LSI Logic senior vice president of Research and Development and the general manager of U.S. Wafer Fab Operations. He has been responsible for the company's silicon process technology and manufacturing operations in the United States and directed the development and construction of the company's state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Gresham, Ore.
Prior to joining LSI Logic, Zelayeta was the process and product manager for LSI Products at Raytheon Semiconductor Inc., and held several process and manufacturing management positions at Fairchild Semiconductor.
Zelayeta received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Semiconductor Research Corp. Armour, 40, will report to Zelayeta. He has 18 years of experience in semiconductor technology development and fabrication, most recently as the LSI Logic senior director of Operations (Gresham).
Prior to joining LSI Logic, Armour was the fab director for Advanced Micro Devices' Fab 25 in Austin, Texas. He began his professional career as a process engineer for RCA Solid State in 1980.
Armour received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Southern Methodist University in 1979.
