Toronto--Oct. 27, 1997--Interactive Image Technologies Ltd. (IIT) announced the appointment of Richard Helms to the position of vice president of Research and Development. As the leader of the IIT development team, Helms's charter is to guide the company in bringing advanced versions of Electronics Workbench, IIT's flagship electronic circuit simulation and verification software, to the EDA market, as well as to expand the capabilities of Electronics Workbench as design tool among educators.
Helms has broad experience in all phases of computer systems design and implementation. Prior to joining IIT, he held a variety of research and development positions with IBM Canada Limited in the IBM Microelectronics Division, the IBM Canada Laboratory, and the General Systems Division. During his 21-year tenure with IBM Canada, he served as chief information officer, senior development analyst, chief image architect, advanced technology developer, advisory development analyst, and systems engineer.
As patent review board chair for IBM Microelectronics, Helms was part of the development team responsible for creating 33 percent of all the company's patents in 1996 and 20 percent of the patents in 1995. He has also published a variety of technical papers in leading industry publications, including Electronic Design and Engineering Dimensions. Helms holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
