Valencia, Calif.--Oct. 28, 1997--3D Systems Corporation announced theofficial opening of its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
The new office has been established to serve 3D Systems' growing installedbase in the region which has now reached 110 systems. End-users in the regioninclude Brother, Hewlett Packard, Hyundai Motors, Mando, Motorola, Proton,Samsung Motors, and Thomson Multimedia. Globally, the company's installedbase now totals more than 1,000 systems.
Lee Dockstader has been named as Managing Director of the operation thatincludes four other professionals. The Asia-Pacific team is responsible forexpanding local sales and support.
Dockstader spent 11 years with Hewlett Packard before joining 3D Systems.A specialist in design automation, he also held the post of Asia PacificProgram Manager for Hewlett Packard in Hong Kong for three years.
3D Systems recently introduced a new generation in stereolithographysystems for rapid prototyping and rapid tooling, the SLA-5000 and theSLA-3500. Ideal for rapid tooling, the systems feature the 0.05-(m (0.002 inches) layer thickness tooling buildstyle for increased part resolution.
