San Jose, CALIF.--Oct. 27, 1997--LogicVision, Inc. introduced the industry's first low-cost Built-In Self-Test (BIST) solution for embedded SRAMs. Quik-EST (Embedded SRAM Technology), an automated solution for adding embedded SRAM BIST to ASIC designs, gives designers a slimmed-down version of LogicVision's industry-proven, full-featured memBIST-IC product. Priced at $4,800, quik-EST is available for evaluation and purchase, for a limited time, exclusively through the company's web site at www.logicvision.com.
LogicVision's quik-EST bundles proprietary memory BIST hardware (intellectual property) with associated automation software to provide a complete, easy-to-use test solution for embedded SRAMs. Quik-EST shortens test development time by automating the generation and insertion of the embedded test hardware. It is designed to work well with the designer's existing high-level (Verilog or VHDL) design flow.
According to Dataquest, more than 50 percent of ASIC designs in 1996 contained embedded SRAMs. The percentage is expected to grow to nearly 70 percent by 1999. BIST technology is rapidly becoming the de facto standard methodology for testing embedded memories.
Parallel-access and scan-ring approaches to embedded memory testing, popular in previous generations of ASICs, do not allow testing at application speeds, and their implementation is generally not automated. By introducing quik-EST, LogicVision is offering a low-cost, user-friendly, easy-to-acquire commercial product to designers who are looking for solutions to test their embedded SRAMs.
Before purchasing quik-EST, designers can use the on-line advanced evaluation system to interactively perform "what if" analysis on their targeted ASIC designs. The analysis software guides designers through a simple process in which information is entered describing the SRAMs to be used in the design. The output from the software is a report providing fault coverage, logic gates required, and projected total test time. Designers can then place an order for quik-EST on line.
LogicVision's quik-EST will be available on a limited time basis for three months, starting October 27, 1997. Quik-EST is licensed on a per design basis at a fixed cost of $4,800 per design and is available for the Hewlett Packard HP-UX 10.2, SunOS 4.1.x, and Sun Solaris 2.5.x platforms. The quik-EST product provides embedded test for designs containing up to three SRAMs.
