Milpitas, Calif.--Oct. 22, 1997-- Jaton's new PowerPro TX,featuring Intel's 430TX PCIset, is now ready to ship, helping to bridgethegap between desktop and mobile PC performance by optimizing thecapabilitiesof the Intel Pentium processor with MMX technology. Users can enjoy arichervideo, audio, and digital imaging and communications experience from thelatestgeneration of multimedia software. The new PowerPro TX ATX mainboard, manufactured in the United States by Jaton Corporation, provides userswithsolid technology for a superior system.
The PowerPro TX closes the power consumption gap and enables newapplications to run by delivering mobile-style power management to thedesktop. Jatons's new mainboard supports ACPI (Advanced ConfigurationandPower Interface), the new power management specification, which is thefoundation for future 0/S-directed power management.
Jaton's PowerPro TX with the 430TX PCI set also supports the UltraDMA/33IDE with the enhancements required for faster performance of today'sapplications. Using the Ultra DMA/33 compatible hard drives, users candeliverfaster-than-ever IDE transfer rates, without changing cables orsoftware. Thistransfer rate is twice as fast as the first generation of IDE drives.Concurrent PCI is also incorporated into the Jaton mainboard, optimizingtheperformance for multimaster PCI agents, including short-burstapplicationssuch as RGB video and turner cards.
The Jaton mainboard has no jumpers; this makes the setting ofthe CPU parameters easier through the use of SOFTMENU. ThePowerPro TX automatically detects CPU voltage and sets theCPU frequency in CMOS, thus eliminating the need to set theseparameters using jumpers.
