This technology answers theneeds of wireless users browsing the Web. Spyglass Prism is aserver-based solution that reduces the time required to access Web sitesby dynamically converting Web content to the specific displaycharacteristics of devices such as wireless laptops, handheld computers,personal digital assistants, or mobile phones.
Nokia is expected to provide more detail on their use of Spyglass Prism by theend of the year.
Spyglass Prism is server-based software that works with any Web browserand requires no special software on the device itself. Not only doesSpyglass Prism display content faster, it does so without requiringcontent providers to make any modifications to their existing content.This technology can be utilized by a broad range of products:mobile phones, laptops, smart phones, TV set-top boxes, and PDAs.
Nokia is the third announced licensee of Spyglass Prism. Spyglasspreviously announced licensing agreements with GTE, one of the largestpublicly held telecommunications companies in the world, and Geoworks, aleading provider of smart phone software solutions. GTE is developingWeb-based services utilizing enhanced-display telephones. Geoworks isenabling cellular operators to provide smart phone users access to anyWeb page by automatically reconfiguring the pages to meet therequirements of mobile device screens.
