Former Synopsys Exec Joins Duet as Engineering Senior Vice President
San Jose--Nov. 24, 1997--Duet Technologies Inc. (San Jose)announced that Mostafa Torkian, formerly vice president of engineering for Synopsys Inc., has joined the company in the newly created position of senior vice president of engineering. In his new role, Torkian will assume complete responsibility in technology development and design services as well as growing Duet's semiconductor design organization.
Before joining Duet Technologies, Torkian was vice president of engineering for the Silicon Architects Corp., which was acquired by Synopsys Inc. As vice president of engineering for Synopsys, he was responsible for overseeing development of a wide range of new ASIC technologies, libraries and design tools. He was also responsible for managing an expanding team of engineers, leading new product development, and working with third parties to expand the company's line of technology products. During his tenure as vice president of engineering, Synopsys introduced a new ASIC design system and tools to support embedded design methodology for Cell Based Array architecture targeting CMOS gate arrays, as well as a comprehensive family of Cell Based Arrays, libraries, and development tools for Synopsys' customers.
Before joining Silicon Architects/Synopsys, Torkian was General Manager of Digital Equipment Corp.'s External Semiconductor Technology Group (ESTG), directing activities of a 250-person multi-functional organization including standard products engineering, ASIC design and applications, ASIC CAD and library development, test and product engineering, as well as business development and marketing. During his tenure at Digital's ESTG, he was responsible for releasing over 1,000 ASIC designs to external ASIC foundries, as well as contributing to design and development of ASICs for many Digital's system products targeting different end-user applications, including PCs, servers, and networking products. Torkian also has extensive experience in building business relationships with many U.S. and international ASIC suppliers.
In all, Torkian has more than two decades of engineering experience. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts University.
