Santa Clara, Calif.--Nov. 17, 1997--Quantum Effect Design Inc. (QED; Santa Clara), a supplier of high-end embedded microprocessor solutions,named marketing veteran Arnold Estep, director of marketing. Estepbrings more than 11 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and anadditional nine years of experience in computer system design and development.
Estep will lead the company's marketing effort, and will be responsiblefor implementing all aspects of marketing strategy and marketing operations.He will work closely with QED's sales and operations staff to increase QED'scustomer base and lead its penetration into new markets. He reports to RickKepple, QED's vice president of marketing and sales.
Prior to joining QED, Estep served as strategic marketing manager at NECElectronics Inc. where he was responsible for the MIPS RISC processor strategy forWindows CE applications. He also worked closely with Microsoft and otherthird-party partners. Prior to NEC, he held several management positions atCirrus Logic including strategic marketing manager, product line manager, anddesign manager and was responsible for the development of advancedmultimedia PC systems. At Cirrus Logic, he managed the design anddevelopment of the first 64-bit Windows graphics accelerators, which wascompleted in nine months, and established a 50 percent+ market share and millionsin revenue for 21 consecutive months.
Prior to Cirrus Logic, Estep held engineering positions at QMS Inc. wherehe managed laser printer controller developments, and at NASA-Ames FlightSimulation Laboratory he designed computer graphics systems for flightsimulators. He holds an associate degree in Electronic EngineeringTechnology from Ohio Institute of Technology and a B.S. in BusinessAdministration from the University of Phoenix.
