Sunnyvale, Calif.-- Dec. 22, 1997--United Microelectronics Corporation(UMC) is hosting a Technology Workshop on Tuesday, January 13, 1998,to outline its plan to service customers' advanced IC manufacturingrequirements.
This is the second Annual Technology Workshop sponsored by UMC. Overwhelming positive customer feedback from the first workshop led to UMC creating an annual event. The company expects up to 300 attendees representing the fabless community, system manufacturers, and integrated device manufacturers. Customers will take the information disseminated at the workshop and use it in future productplanning and development. In turn, UMC will use feedback from the attendees to guide them in their process development and service offerings.
The event will be held at the Santa Clara Mariott Hotel and Suites. Don Brooks will begin the event by discussing the UMC Group vision. Presentations include: UMC group worldwide marketing operations by Jean Tien, director of customer engineering division; UMC group fabs' performance by Peter Chang,president, United Semiconductor Corporation; 0.25-(m technology by Shih-Wei Sun, deputy director, technology development division; 0.18-(m technology by Jenkon Chen, senior manager, logic process, technology development division; Spice modeling by Kuan-Cheng Su, senior manager, device engineering, technology development; nonvolatile memory technology by Gary Hong, director, technology development division; design services by Wen Huang, director, design support team; and quality engineering service by Larry Lin, director, qualityengineering division. Mid-day lunch, panel discussions and a late afternoon reception will follow.
