Naperville, Ill. --Jan. 28, 1998--Sending a clear message that consumerelectronics and the Internet will increasingly share a common future,Thomson Consumer Electronics, Inc., best known for the RCAand GE television brands, has signed Web solutions pioneer,Spyglass, Inc.to fill a broad Internet consulting role. The dealrepresents an expansion of a deal forged last year, in which Spyglassworked with the consumer electronics giant on the RCA NCInternet television set-top box. In their new role, Spyglass willprovide technical expertise for Thomson's future Web-related products.
Spyglass assisted Thomson with the Electronic Programming Guide (EPG)for Thomson's RCA-branded, Web-enabled set-top box, which is available inretail outlets throughout the United States.
The latest Thomson agreement closely follows the expansion of SpyglassProfessional Services to include a new consulting group specializing incable and satellite television products and technologies. The newinitiative leverages Spyglass's television expertise across severaltechnologies, including Windows CE, Java, and the leading real-timeoperating systems.
