Bedford, Mass.--Jan. 27, 1998--DSP Software Engineering, Inc., a leadingprovider of digital signal processing software, announced the availabilityof its latest vocoder software component products: ITU G.729 andITU G.729A software for the Texas Instruments TMS320C54xprocessor series. These vocoders have numerous applications inproducts that require high-quality speech coding with low delay at 8 kbps,including videoconferencing, digital telephony, multimedia, wirelesscommunications, digital satellite systems, and voice-over-frame relay.
DSPSE has designed both G.729 and G.729A vocoders to work easily asC-callable functions. G.729A, also called CS-ACELP (Conjugate-StructureAlgebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction), is a bit-exact implementation ofITU G.729 and G.729A for the TMS320C54x. G.729A is an international standardfor encoding 8-kHz sampled speech signals for transmission over 8-kbpschannels and is the default coder as prescribed by the Frame Relay Forum.G.729A provides near toll-quality performance under clean channel conditions.G.729A is a robust coder providing excellent performance in tandemingapplications and in the presence of random bit errors. The data between G.729and G.729A are interchangeable, allowing a G.729A vocoder to decode a G.729packet. Likewise, a G.729 vocoder can decode a G.729A packet.
