Santa Clara, Calif.--Jan. 26, 1998--Quantum Effect Design, Inc. (QED), a leading supplier of high-end embedded-microprocessor solutions, has named Bill Thomas vice president of worldwide sales. Thomas, 44, has more than 16 years experience in strategic semiconductor sales and sales management.
In his new position, Thomas will have full responsibility for the development and expansion of worldwide sales and the growth of QED's customer service and customer advocacy departments.
Thomas joined QED in November 1996 and previously served as director of worldwide sales. He has been instrumental in securing design wins with several major customers, signing on a North American rep sales force, booking first volume production orders, and establishing QED's customer service department.
Prior to joining QED, Thomas was director of strategic sales at Power Trends, where he was responsible for major account sales including Cisco, HP, Sun, and Silicon Graphics. While at Power Trends, Thomas secured first design wins at Sun, Silicon Graphics, and Cisco and defined a major account program with a strong customer service focus. Prior to Power Trends, Thomas served as director of semiconductor sales at Celeritek, and prior to that he held the positions of director of communication, product marketing, and Northwest area sales manager at Sierra Semiconductor. Thomas also held sales management positions at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Carter Associates, and Electrospace Systems, Inc.
Thomas holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Florida.
