Westford, Mass.--Feb. 23, 1998--Genrad, Inc. (Westford, Mass.has enteredinto a distribution and support agreement with S.E.I.C.A. S.r.L. The agreement entitles Genrad to distribute, service, and support underthe brand name GR-Pilot, a fixtureless "flying-probe" test system in theUnited States, Europe, and Asia.
GR-Pilot allows users to test prototypes, samples, and low-volume/high- mix production runs without the costly, time-consuming process of building new fixtures. GR-Pilot's air bearing technology and brushless AC motors are identical to that used in other sophisticatedindustrial applications, which require high speed and precision. This eliminates operational vibration and accelerates the testing process, while maintaining accuracy and dependability.
GR-Pilot can be quickly installed in-line and programmed to satisfy the specific needs of a manufacturer. It has Windows-based systemsoftware that guides the operator through all programming and test operations in order to minimize operator error.
U.S. pricing for GR-Pilot begins at $185,000. Systems will be available for shipment in the second quarter of 1998.
