Sunnyvale, Calif.--Feb. 24, 1998--Cygnus Solutions announced Ronald Workman as vice president of its marketing department.
In his new role, Workman will be responsible for establishing Cygnus globally as a leader in the embedded-technology industry, managing all strategic marketing and communications, including building brand awareness around Cygnus's name and products and fostering new strategic relationships with partners and customers. Additionally, Workman will have overall responsibility for marketing activities, including corporate marketing, marketing communications, andthird-party partner programs.
Prior to joining Cygnus, Workman worked at Microtec, a division of Mentor Graphics, as vice president and business unit manager of the Run-Time Solutions Business Unit. He managed a team of software engineers, product marketing managers, technical support engineers, and technical writers, responsible for designing and developing software products, including real-time operating systems, system utilities, and software development tools.
Workman also served as Microtec's vice president of the Professional Services Group, a division he established in 1995. Also with Microtec, Workman was vice president of VAR/OEM Sales following its 1993 merger with Ready Systems Corp., a provider of real-time operating systems and tools for embedded-software development. Prior to the merger, Workman served as vice president of Ready's North American Sales. He joined Ready in 1989, when it was a start-up company as vice president of marketing.
Workman spent four years at Tektronix, where he served in marketing and sales managerial positions in the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Systems Division. Previous to that, Workman worked at Hewlett-Packard as a computer sales executive, Cromemco Computer as a software support manager, and Stanford Telecommunications as a senior software engineer.
Workman earned a bachelor degree in biological science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif., with a minor in computer science. Following this, Workman conducted graduate work in computer science at Santa Clara University.
