The IC design infrastructure market is a growing EDA market that includes ICphysical libraries (standard cells, I/O cells, memories, data paths, and so on), EDAmodels, intellectual property cores (also called SLMs), and customizedlibrary development services to support new, highly integrated,system-on-a-chip designs. As an increasing number of ICs move toward deep-submicron processes, the entire IC design infrastructure has to migrate quicklyand efficiently to allow the IC designers to take full advantage of a given process, which may be optimized for high speed, low power, density, or othercharacteristics.
Duet will continue to offer Cascade's complete line of IC physical libraries andcompilers, library development tools and physical design tools, and invest in keytechnologies. Duet will maintain engineering centers at Cascade's formerheadquarters in Bellevue, Wash., as well as in San Jose and India.Duet's corporate headquarters will remain in San Jose. With this acquisition, thecombined workforce of the new Duet represents a large resource pool of over400 employees, more than 85 percent of which are technical professionals anddesign engineers.
