Wilsonville, Ore.--Feb. 24, 1998--Mentor Graphics Corp. announcedSiemens Semiconductors has standardized on Mentor Graphics'design-for-test (DFT) technology to ensure maximum quality and effectivetest of core-based design for products based on its Semicustom Highwaydesign environment. The multimillion dollar deal with electronics giant SiemensSemiconductors is effective immediately.
Siemens' Semicustom Highway is used at its semiconductor sitesworldwide for custom design of high-performance microcontrollers, memory, ICs, and ASICs destined for medical, automotive, andtelecommunications markets. The Semicustom Highway includesstandardized tools for all areas of new product development, fromfront-end design entry through back-end design verification.
Mentor Graphics is the only supplier of both automatic test patterngeneration (ATPG) and memory and logic built-in self-test (BIST)software, critical for deep-submicron design, while also offering theindustry's most complete line of DFT solutions. As a Siemens partner,Mentor Graphics will provide Siemens worldwide access to its DFTproducts, all of which maximize the quality and field reliability of complex system-on-chip designs, including embedded cores, memory, and intellectual property. The Mentor Graphics-Siemens partnership provides completeinteroperability between each DFT tool and other tools within the SemicustomHighway.
Siemens designers are using Mentor Graphics' MBISTarchitect andLBISTarchitect to build automatic self-test into complex logic andmemory cores. Mentor Graphics' DFTadvisor and Fastscan willprovide testability analysis and full-scan ATPG respectively. MentorGraphics' BSDarchitect will provide boundary scan synthesis, permittingsystem-level test.
