Cambridge, Mass.--March 17, 1998--At the National ManufacturingShow press conference, ASAP, Inc. (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) announced its supportfor Phar Lap Software's Realtime ETS Kernel--a hard real-timekernel compatible with Win32 development tools and environments, such as Windows NT and Windows 95. ASAP uses theRealtime ETS Kernel as its embedded RTOS for its new ASIC-300 productline. The Phar Lap RTOS offers an alternative to Windows NT, withreal-time extensions. Like Windows NT, the Realtime ETS Kernel is amultitasking RTOS compatible with Win32 tools such as Microsoft VisualC++.
The Realtime ETS Kernel, the core component of Phar Lap's TNT Embedded Toolsuite embedded development system, is based on a Phar Lap-defined subset of the Win32 API. This support allows developers to use the same Win32-compatible platforms for host and target: they can create their embedded and real-time software on a Windows 95 or Windows NT machine and then download their code to a 32-bit x86-compatible embedded target. The ASIC-300 product line is a family of scalable, distributed control object software for Windows and Windows-compatible environments. ASIC-300 integrates scalable open controls via ActiveX with Phar Lap and Microsoft environments.
