March 26, 1998--CAD-UL will adapt their embedded tools to all AMD microprocessors and evaluation boards. AMD will recommend CAD-UL Embedded Tools as the preferred solution for both 16- and 32-bit x86 processors to AMD customers, partners, and distributors. Additionally, AMD's evaluation boards for x86 processors will be shipped along with CAD-UL compilers and high-level language debuggers. The evaluation boards will be preconfigured with the CAD-UL ROM monitor. One of the first products of this cooperation was the adaptation of the CAD-UL tool chain to the AM186ES/ER boards. In April, CAD-UL will release a complete tool chain for the ELAN SC400/410. The CAD-UL XDB debugger for ELAN SC400/410 fully integrates all processor features (e.g., to display and modify more than 400 special registers within a bitfield editor of the debugger).
CAD-UL Embedded Tools consist of a C++/ANSI-C cross-optimizing compiler, a powerful assembler, a flexible linker, and a high-level language debugger. All tools are part of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for embedded-systems development. The tools generate and support the OMF386 format, regarded as the industry standard.
The complete CAD-UL Tool Chain list price for Windows 95 and NT host version is $5,400.
