Synopsys Offers Platform Interoperability for VCS
Mountain View, Calif.--March 16, 1998--Synopsys, Inc. announced the release of cross-platform interoperability for Chronologic VCS.
The new release provides the same capabilities and graphical userinterface (GUI) for both the Windows NT and Unix versions of VCS. This follows Synopsys's announcement to offer many of its electronicdesign automation (EDA) chip development tools for workstations runningMicrosoft Windows NT.
With the attractive price and performance and increasing maturity of Windows NT workstations, networks containing mixed operating systems are becoming more common.
Platform interoperability for VCS allows design teams to simulate through heterogeneous networks using the same GUI functionality and the same license file. Now, designers can choose to work off the platform they are most comfortable with and which best suits their budget and network requirements.
The cross-platform interoperability license for VCS is available immediately. Pricing starts at $40,000.
VCS is available on most Unix workstation platforms: Solaris, SunOS, HP-UX, DEC Alpha, IBM RS6000, and SGI; Windows 95- and Windows NT-based systems; and mixed-Unix/NT floating network license support.
