Santa Clara, Calif.--March 16, 1998--Compaq Computer Corp. and Design Acceleration, Inc. announced at the International Verilog Conference and VHDL International Users Forum, a three-year joint development agreement that will allow Compaq to commercialize its internally developed electronic design automation (EDA) tools through DAI's marketing and sales channels. Compaq and DAI will work together to develop Compaq's internal verification technology into a commercially available software solution that enablescustomers to capitalize on Compaq's expertise in producing electronic designs that use advanced IC design and process technologies. The financial terms of the agreement are undisclosed.
As part of the agreement, DAI will deliver products on the Unix and Windows NT platforms. In addition, DAI and Compaq engineers will work to create tighter integration between Compaq's verification tools and DAI's Design Quartet environment. The commercial products will make the verification technology that Compaq created available to all EDA customers for the first time. This will also permit EDA logic simulation users to verify designs above the gate level without having to learn any special verification language, thereby increasing the efficiencies of design testing. The ability to create and manage these design verifications in a portable and high-level way will help EDA engineersreduce their time to market. Product availability from DAI is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 1998.
