Wilsonville, Ore.--April 27, 1998-- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Wilsonville) announced that Philips Semiconductors (Eindhoven, Netherlands) has selected Mentor Graphics' Calibre physical verification software as its tool of choice for complex deep-submicron IC designs. Philips Semiconductors will add Calibre across the company to its installed design tools verifying chips for digital audio, video and mobile technology.
Design teams from multiple industries, including computer, communications and multimedia, could use Calibre for deep submicron memory and logic designs. According to design technology management consulting firm Collett International, the bulk of all IC and ASIC designs shifted to 0.35-micron densities by the end of 1997. Such density mandates a flexible physical verification technology, which Calibre claims to provide.
