San Jose--April 27, 1998--The Electronic Design Automation Consortium (San Jose) has elected a new board of directors to serve the organization through June, 2000. Aart de Geus,chairman and CEO of Synopsys, Inc., who is finishing his term asvice chairman, has been elected by the new board to the chairman position.Walden Rhines, chairman and CEO of Mentor Graphics Corp. and previous EDAConsortium chairman, will serve along with Kathryn Kranen, president and CEOof Verisity Design, Inc. as vice chairmen.
The newly elected board members are Prakash Bhalerao, president and CEOof Ambit Design Systems; John P. Eurich, president and CEO of EngineeringDataxpress, Inc.; Jack Harding, president and CEO of Cadence Design Systems;Penny Herscher, president and CEO of Simplex Solutions; Amr Mohsen, presidentand CEO of Aptix Corp.; and Gerry Musgrave, chairman and COO of AbstractDesign.
The new board was elected by the EDA Consortium's general membership atthe bi-annual election meeting on Tuesday, April 14. Key issues the new boardwill address include qualifying industry standards, raising the awareness andvalue of the EDA industry, and coordinating efforts with other consortia tomeet the end-customer's needs.
The newly elected board has also appointed Robert Gardner, president andCEO of Faspparts, Inc., treasurer for this next term. Pamela Parrish willcontinue in her role as executive director of the EDA Consortium, and MarkWhite, a partner at White & Lee, will continue as corporate secretary.
