San Jose--April 23, 1998--Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, San Jose) announced five new management team additions. Dr. Sheldon Wu and Dr. Chen-Chung Chao, employees of TSMC, have been named directors of account management. David J. Keller and Brad B. Paulsen have joined TSMC also as directors of account management. Kurt Wolf has joined TSMC as director of marketing.
Prior to his appointment as director of account management, Wu served on the TSMC engineering account management team. Before joining TSMC in 1992, Wu worked for Intel Corp. specializing in process and device modeling. In addition, Wu contributed to the development of submicron CMOS and BiMOS technologies. Wu received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UCLA in 1994.
Chao was responsible for strategic accounts at TSMC before being promoted to director of account management. Prior to joining TSMC in 1995, Chao worked on advanced CMOS logic and Flash/E2 technologies at Intel. He also worked on DMOS, Bipolar RF transistors, and Si MMIC at Microwave Semiconductor, a Siemens company. Chao received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Lehigh University Pennsylvania in 1986.
Prior to his new position, Keller spent a combination of 16 years in sales and marketing at Fairchild Semiconductor and National Semiconductor. During his career at National, Keller held many titles including sales engineer, account manager, regional sales manager, director of the analog business center, director of networking segment business unit, and director of Americas marketing. Keller worked as a product engineer and process engineer at Honeywell in Minneapolis before beginning his sales and marketing career.
Paulsen joins TSMC with a proven record of success in technical sales and marketing. Prior to his new position, Paulsen was the director of marketing and sales for National Semiconductor's Military and Aerospace division from 1994 to 1998. Paulsen also spent 10 years with National Semiconductor working in departmental marketing roles including product marketing director, product marketing manager, and strategic accounts manager. From 1981 to 1984, Paulsen was sales manager for Newark Electronics. Paulsen holds an MBA in strategic management from Pepperdine University (Malibu, Calif.). In addition, Paulsen has a BA from California State University San Jose.
Wolf joins TSMC from Advanced Micro Devices where he spent 13 years working in technical marketing positions, including his most recent position as director of technical (strategic and product) marketing. His other positions at AMD included division marketing manager, strategic marketing manager, strategic marketing engineer, and product marketing engineer. Kurt holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
