Beaverton, Ore.--April 23, 1998--OrCAD (Beaverton) reported that demand for its Windows NT-based electronic design and component information system (CIS) software and services drove strong revenue growth for the first quarter of 1998. OrCAD is a supplier of Windows EDA software and services to electronics companies worldwide.
Revenue for first quarter 1998 increased 18 percent to $11.6 million, up from $9.9 million for the same period in 1997. Excluding non-recurring merger related charges (incurred in the first quarter in connection with the Microsim merger) of $4.1 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, net income for first quarter 1998 was $1.1 million or $0.12 per diluted share. Including non-recurring merger related charges, net loss for first quarter 1998 was $1.6 million or $0.17 per diluted share. This compares with first quarter 1997 net income of $980,000 or $0.10 per diluted share.
