Austin, Texas--May 20, 1998--Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (San Jose)has chosen Austin, Texas as the site of a new NorthAmerican customer support center and a design services operation that will bepart of its global Design Factory network, a decision that will bringclose to 300 new jobs to central Texas over the next several years. Thecompany will occupy 60,000 square feet of the soon-to-be-completed LakeviewPlaza office park in northwest Austin.
Austin was chosen after an extensive nationwide search for an expansionlocation outside the company's San Jose-based headquarters.
Cadence's customer service call center will employ nearly 150 employees.In addition, the company will combine its existing sales, field support, anddesign services personnel from around Austin into the facility, which willhouse close to 400 Cadence employees by 2000.
The call center will provide front-line customer support to Cadence'ssoftware product users, offering hotline support and product fixes for themore than 15,000 Cadence customers in North America. Cadence's customersupport operation is currently distributed across the entire United States,and the decision centralizes the majority of the support personnel in onelocation.
The Austin center is part of a worldwide network of more than 20 locations in Cadence's Design Factory network.
