Mountain View, Calif.--May 18, 1998--Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI; Mountain View, Calif.) reported that the North American semiconductor equipment industry posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.79 for April 1998.
Three-month average shipments increased in April 1998 to $1.4billion. The figure is one percent above the March 1998 level and is23 percent above the April 1997 level. Three-month average bookingsdecreased in April 1998 to $1.1 billion. The bookings figure is 2.5percent below the March 1998 level and 13 percent below the April1997 level.
The SEMI book-to-bill is a ratio of three-month moving averagebookings to three-month moving average shipments.
