Albuquerque, N.M.--June 29, 1998--Philips Semiconductors, Inc. (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) and MINC, Inc. (Colorado Springs, Colo.) announced the companies have joined forces to provide MINC's VHDL Easy for Philips Semiconductors' Coolrunner family of CPLDs. The software package provides customers worldwide with a VHSIC hardware description language (VHDL) solution for high-level CPLD designs. VHDL Easy is part of a complete VHDL environment from Philips Semiconductors and offers Coolrunner customers the first affordable VHDL environment from MINC. The software package includes an interactive VHDL tutorial, a text editor, VHDL synthesis software, Philips Semiconductors' full timing simulator, and Coolrunner device fitters.
Philips Semiconductors' VHDL environment combines MINC's VHDL Easy with XPLA (Extended Programmable Logic Array) Designer and was jointly developed, verified, and documented. Complete device support, from VHDL entry to device configuration, is available for more than 150 devices of the Coolrunner family at both 3.3 V and 5 V power supplies.
VHDL Easy, introduced by MINC in 1997, consists of two distinct components: an interactive tutorial from Doulos (Hampshire, U.K.), and a VHDL-based logic synthesizer for programmable logic devices.
MINC's VHDL Easy is available now from Philips Semiconductors' worldwide sales network, including distribution and direct sales. The order number is PZVHDLEZ and retails through distributors for $495. Upgrades and support are also available. Users can add MINC's VHDL simulator, VHDL Easy SIM, as well as device kits from MINC's extensive library for an additional $495. Philips Semiconductors' software also includes free updates and maintenance via its CPLD web site at www.coolpld.com.
