Austin, Texas--June 18, 1998--Motorola Corp. (Austin) has announced that current efforts in the programmable products arena will be discontinued.This includes all FPGA and Analog array products, as well as the Core+ technology.
Motorola will provide end-of-life inventory supplies to its FPGA customers inaccordance with standard operating procedures.
The company will continue to supply customer-specific embedded systems, making available theircore capabilities in M-Core, PowerPC, 68K/Coldfire, 68HCXX, and DSP.
Approximately 75 employees in Phoenix, Ariz. and Manchester, U.K.have been involved in the FPGA program. A significant number of them will betransferred into the Advanced Systems Technology Lab. The balance of theemployees will receive assistance in seeking other opportunitieseither inside or outside of the company.
