San Diego--July 22, 1998--Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (San Diego) announced a long-term agreement with IBM Corp. entitling AMCC to advancedaccess and use of IBM's current and future generations of silicon-germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS processes and libraries.
Having reached final manufacturing and testing qualification within IBM'sBurlington, Vt. facility, the current SiGe BiCMOS technology is expected to make possible AMCC's introduction of OC-192 standard productsolutions next year. Subsequent SiGe designs from AMCC may include newgenerations of existing product families.
The SiGe BiCMOS process adds 65 GHz Fmax heterojunction bipolar transistors to a standard 0.4-m CMOS formula.
