Bracknell, U.K.--July 27, 1998--Cadence Design Systems,Inc. (San Jose) announced the expansion of its Education Servicesoperation with the acquisition of Esperan, Ltd., a privately-held independentEDA training and education company based inRamsbury, U.K. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition was Cadence's first in the Education Services area. Esperan's main strategy has been to provide training services independent of any specific EDA software supplier,but the company has partnerships with many worldwide EDA vendors andelectronics manufacturers across the United States and Europe. It will now be managed as part of Cadence's Worldwide Consulting Services organization.
Esperan's operations will remain in Ramsbury, joining 17 other Cadenceeducation centers worldwide. It will continue to provide vendor-independent education.
