San Francisco--July 29, 1998--This year's PCB Design Conference East will be held at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlboro, Mass. October 12-16, 1998 (exhibitions on October 13 and 14). The change is a result of an attendance survey and focus groups Miller Freeman conducted to respond to the venue concerns of conference attendees. The new location offers a more convenient commute from Boston as well as improved parking conditions for conference attendees and exhibitors.
The Royal Plaza Trade Center is near Route 128, abutting the largest community of electronics companies in the Northeast. This will be the third year the PCB Design Conference will take place on the East Coast.
Like its sister show on the West Coast, there are many attractions at PCB East, including a technical program, many educational elements, and special "East Coast-only events".
Additions to the technical program this year include a new Packaging and Manufacturing Technology Track and a new Design Excellence Curriculum course on Advanced PCB Microvia Design. In addition, PCB Design Conference East will present the second annual Gene Marsh Award for Technical Innovation. The award is given annually to an individual or group of individuals who have made a significant technical contribution to the PCB engineering and design industry. The Top Gun Event will test the skills of participating PCB designers who will compete against one another to determine who is "Top Gun". The show organizers feel that Top Gun will be to designers what the controversial benchmark is to EDA vendors.
Ongoing events include: Nick Lester moderating the EDA Face-to-Face Roundtable debating "hot" industry topics; and the PCB Test Drive Center which allows conference and exposition attendees an opportunity to test the software of participating vendors in a sales-free environment.
