Santa Clara, Calif.--July 27, 1998--BTA Technology, Inc. (Santa Clara) announced that it is introducing aninterconnect characterization service, Verisure, that tunes RC layoutextraction tools to silicon data. The service includes test chip design, measurement, and calibration to customer-specific RC layout extraction tools.
The interconnect characterization solution is muchlike what customers currently have for active devices, such as MOS transistors, through one source. Verisure brings silicon verification to interconnectparasitics and ensures that design tools have the maximum modelingaccuracy--less than 2 percent error compared to silicon results.
BTA Technology has developed a set of test structureswith sub-femto farad (less than 0.001 pF) resolution capability. These teststructures have features that heighten specific physical dependencies (suchas spacing between parallel metal wires) and include patterns, which appearmost frequently within layouts as well.
The verisure service is available from BTA Technology for $50,000 andup. The price includes test structure design, measurement, and RC layouttool calibration. Customers who use their own or non-BTA test chips can usethe measurement portion of the service for $15,000.
