Cupertino, Calif.--July 20, 1998--Ikos Systems, Inc. (Cupertino) announced that Transwitch Corp. (Shelton, Conn.) has purchased its NSIM simulation accelerator product. Transwitch selected the accelerator for the timing and gate-level verification of communications ICs.
Transwitch has been a long-term customer of Ikos. With this most recent purchase, Transwitch has obtained the NSIM 64, Ikos' largest simulation accelerator. This product provides higher capacity and multiuser capability to expand Transwitch's accelerated simulation throughput with flexible access for more users or larger-capacity, single-user simulations.
Transwitch is developing a first generation of a new class of flexible, future-safe network building blocks, which the company refers to as Connectivity Engines-VLSI devices. These VLSI devices include an onboard programmable computer core that is designed to transform networks much as microprocessor devices have transformed computers.
NSIM is a plug-in, mixed-level simulation accelerator that accelerates memory, gate-level logic, and switch-level logic, achieving more than 3,000 simulated clocks per second. Since NSIM co-simulates with VHDL, LMC hardware and software models, C models, andVerilog HDL models, verification can begin early in the design process when most of the design is still modeled behaviorally.
