Wilsonville, Ore.--July 13, 1998--Mentor Graphics Corp.(Wilsonville) announced Seamless Co-Designer, whichenables Seamless Co-Verification Environment (CVE) to include systemmodels, allowing hardware/software integration to begin as early as possiblein the design cycle.
Seamless Co-Designer is an interface between Seamless CVE and Nu ThenaSystems' recently announced Foresight Co-Design. Seamless CVE creates avirtual prototype of an embedded system by bridging software and hardwaredevelopment environments. With Seamless CVE, interface errors betweenhardware and software are detected earlier in the design cycle when fixes aredramatically less costly and time-consuming. Foresight Co-Design is asystem-level modeling environment that includes a transactionsimulator. The user can capture, design, model, and simulate the system toverify the specification and performance.
Early integration of hardware and software in the design process isaccomplished by using Foresight Co-Design functional models, which are createdto verify the completeness and correctness of a design specification. Afterthe specification is verified, functions are assigned to optimize a prototypesystem architecture before proceeding with detailed hardware and softwareimplementation. The abstract system models are refined or integrated into anexisting hardware design running in Seamless CVE.
Seamless Co-Designer and Foresight Co-Design run on both the HP and SunSolaris operating systems. Floating licenses for Seamless Co-Designer arepriced at $15,000 and Foresight Co-Design floating licenses at$60,000. Seamless Co-Designer and Foresight Co-Design are available throughthe Mentor Graphics worldwide sales force.
