Santa Clara, Calif.--July 7, 1998--DSP Group, Inc. (Santa Clara)announced that it has licensed its TeakDSPcore Digital SignalProcessor Core family to Sony Corp. Sony plans to use the TeakDSPcoretechnology in highly-integrated wireless communication solutions for consumerapplications.
The licensing agreement includes two members of the TeakDSPcore family:The Teaklite and the Teak. Teaklite is afully synthesizable, ASIC-friendly, soft DSP core. It has an improvedexecution pipeline capable of up to 130 MIPS when implemented in a 0.25-m CMOSprocess. Teak is an enhanced version of the Teaklite. It has dual multiply accumulate (MAC) units, double word memory read/write instructions, and new instructions to improve DSPalgorithms. The Teak delivers a maximum of 260 MIPS when implemented in a0.25-m CMOS process. The TeakDSPcore family is binary code-compatible with theOakDSPcore, which eliminates the need to recompile or rewrite existing softwaremodules for easy migration to the TeakDSPcore family.
