Allentown, Pa.--August 27, 1998--Lucent Technologies, Inc.'s Microelectronics Group (Allentown) introduced flash memory technology for high- and low-volume manufacturingthat can be used in DSPs. The product will be a flash process module added to thecompany's 0.35-m Compound Metal Oxide Semiconductorprocess technology.
Lucent's new FlashDSP technology, which canbe used for various communications applications such as cellular andcordless phones, pagers, digital answering machines, and modems, improves the speed at which products can be manufactured anddelivered to market, shortening the process in many cases from months tominutes or even seconds, and thereby reducing inventories and loweringoverall manufacturing costs. It will be offered running at 12.5nanoseconds, using 3.3 volts of power supply running at up to 80 MIPS.
The 80 MIPS FlashDSP technology is available in sample quantitiesnow, and is scheduled to be available in high volumes by next year's secondquarter.
