Bristol, U.K.--August 26, 1998--Lattice Semiconductor Corp. (Hillsboro, Ore.) announced plans to open a research and development center for in-system programmable ICs in western England. The announcement was made jointly with the West of England Development Agency (WEDA).
The new facility is expected to be operational in early 1999 and, subject to business conditions and the accomplishment of specific business goals, will eventually employ up to 100 engineers.
The center in the U.K. will be Lattice Semiconductor's first European research and development facility. The center will focus on the design and development of deep-submicron integrated circuits to expand the company's ISP product families.
The exact location of the research and design center hasn't yet been announced. WEDA and its regional partners are helping the company to consider several options.
