Orem, Utah--August 20, 1998--Microcode Engineering Inc. (Orem) has announced a new product lineup. The new lineup includes two professional products and two new releases of the standard products Circuitmaker and Traxmaker. The new programs, Circuitmaker Pro and Traxmaker Pro, offer larger libraries, more advanced features and tighter integration from schematic to PCB layout than the previous versions.
Circuitmaker 6 provides schematic capture and Spice-based analog, digital, and mixed-signal simulation in one program. Schematic features include a built-in symbol editor for custom symbol creation, quick connect drag-and-drop wiring, page borders, and moveable page breaks for auto print scaling. The simulation features include a Spice 3f5 simulation engine, a 6,000-model device library (Pro version), and analyses and virtual instruments for testing and probing. A context-sensitive Probe tool allows users to point and click at any point in the circuit during simulation, and the corresponding waveform immediately appears on the selected instrument. No predefinition of test points, choosing of nodes, or wiring of scopes is involved. Circuitmaker imports Spice models directly, and the Pro version supports digital Simcode for writing custom digital models.
Users move from schematic design to PCB layout in Traxmaker with the click of a button, or export PCB netlists that can be used with most other printed circuit board layout products. It provides circuit board layouts with a built-in autorouters, design rules checkers, and a footprint library of thousands of component footprints. It's tightly integrated with Circuitmaker, but will also import netlists from most other schematic programs, and allows users to design boards from scratch. Traxmaker outputs Gerber RS274X files, Excellon N/C drill files, and the Pro version outputs .dxf and Protel text PCB files. Both versions of Traxmaker include TraxCAM, a Gerber viewer/editor developed by Router Solutions, Inc., for checking Gerber files prior to manufacturing.
Circuitmaker and Traxmaker are 32-bit programs that operate on Windows 3.1x (using Win32 extensions), 95, and NT. Single-user copies are priced at $299 each for the standard and $799 each for the Pro versions. Separate upgrade pricing is available for current registered users of the standard products.
