Pocatello, Idaho--August 3, 1998--American Microsystems, Inc. (Pocatello) introduced the FS6370, the world's first timing generator with onboard EEPROM.The EEPROM allows the timing frequency to be set both at AMI and by the customer, and permits just-in-time factory programming of the devices.
Designers can use FS6370 in initial design and then convert to a low-cost, high-volume part once the product is in production. It can be used in new applications such as set-top boxes, multimedia video/audio, and network computers.
The FS6370 is a monolithic CMOS clock-generator IC, featuring three independently programmable phase-locked-loops and four independently programmable multiplexers/post divider outputs. An SEL (select) input allows one PLL frequency and two multipler/post dividers combinations to be modified by logic level input. It also offers shutdown capabilities.
The FS6370 is available now for $1.75 in 25,000 unit quantities.
