Santa Clara, Calif. (PCB Design Conference West)--March 22, 1999--OrCAD,Inc. (Beaverton, Ore.) and Digi-Key Corp. (Thief River Falls, Minn.)introduced their new, jointly developed component information system (CIS)Starter Database, which allows access to a ready-to-use database of morethan 72,000 electronic components at no charge.
The CIS Starter Database frees customers from spending time and resourcescreating their own preferred parts databases. It lets designers quickly andeasily select parts, which are automatically mapped to both the Digi-Keyand the manufacturers' part numbers and can be placed directly into anOrCAD schematic. In addition, customers can tailor the Starter Database tomeet their unique requirements, then update it with the freshest componentdata available using the Internet Component Assistant built into CaptureCIS.
The Database, in Microsoft Access 97 format, is now available free ofcharge on OrCAD's Web site, along with complete instructions on how to setup the ODBC source and link data directly to OrCAD Capture CIS Release 9.Design engineers can test the CIS Starter Database and OrCAD Capture CIS byrequesting a free OrCAD Software Starter Kit--also available throughOrCAD's Web site.
