Dallas--Aug. 31, 1999--Texas Instruments (TI; Dallas) announced the additionof Mysticom, Ltd.'s MystiPHY110 digital Ethernet physical interface(PHY) to its digital signal processor (DSP)-based Timebuilder ASIC portfolio. Combined with TexasInstrument's DSPs, the PHY provides TI networking customerswith the ability to integrate multiple Ethernet PHYs onto a digital mediaaccess controller (MAC). Applications such as network interface cards(NICs), hubs, routers, switches, and systems capable of sendingvoice-over-the-Internet protocol (VoIP) are well suited for this newaddition to TI's system level integration (SLI) portfolio.
As part of its Timebuilder portfolio, TI delivers adigital Ethernet PHY offered as an ASIC cell, fabricated with 0.21-µm (drawn)/0.18-µm (L-effective) CMOS process technology. MystiPHY110 performs the functions of a standard10/100 Mbit Ethernet PHY in conformance with the IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 10BaseT, and 100BaseTX physical layer specifications. The PHY will interface toeither twisted pair or fiber optic cabling networks. To a host computersystem, the PHY presents either a media independent interface (MII), reducedMII (RMII), or a serial MII (SMII).
The MystiPHY110 core has been proven compliant, interoperable with otherstandard PHY products and is supported in TI's standard ASIC design flow.It is scheduled to be available from TI's ASIC product group in the secondhalf of this year.
