DALLASA well-financed startup with a "design chain management" site for electronic engineers has surfaced here with news of a $10 million venture capital investment.
ChipData.com, which offers a web site under the same name, promises not only to provide component information but to manage data in the company's Quick Evaluation Data (QED) format.
The funding comes from CenterPoint Ventures, InterWest Partners, and Sevin Rosen Funds, along with personal funds from key investors and ChipData.com founders. The chairman of the board of directors is Jerry Rogers, co-founder, a former Cyrix CEO. Kevin McDonough, ChipData.com president and CEO, formerly managed Cyrix's microprocessor design and development.
ChipData.com was founded in 1999. The company will use an application service provider (ASP) model to help automate electronic design.
