San Jose, CA - August 30, 2000 - Altera Corp. announced the availability of on-line training classes forsystem-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) designs. By utilizing the Internet asan avenue for engineers to be trained on advanced programmable logic device(PLD) technology, such as the APEX 20KE PLD architecture and Quartusdevelopment software, Altera said it provides flexible and available engineeringtraining programs to the design engineering community.
With the rapid design and deployment of more complex products in today's marketplace, the company said, detailed and easily accessible training will be a requirement in choosingadvanced technology solutions such as Altera's PLDs. Altera developed thistechnical training solution through a partnership with ICtips.com, a provider of on-line training courses in high-technology areas.
"Altera's on-line training is another example of how we will technicallysupport our customers using the Internet," said Bryon Moyer, Altera directorof customer applications. "By providing our customers with flexible,web-based opportunities for training, Altera is able to offer technicaltraining at any time, complementing our traditional instructor-led courses."
Altera's on-line training courses cover a variety of topics on APEX 20KE andQuartus development software. Upcoming courses will focus on Excaliburembedded processor solutions, and other new products offered by Altera. Thecourses are self-paced, allowing designers to navigate through the course, covering topics that are beneficial to their goals. These courses featurean interactive environment, including pop quizzes, graphics, animation, andsound to fully illustrate concepts. Each course takes approximately 3 to 4hours to complete, and can be reviewed at any time for one month afterpurchase.
