Hasbrouk Heights, NJ - February 28, 2001 - Penton Media, Inc. today announced a new conference andtest-drive "`vendor showcase"' for the electronic design automation (EDA) market.
EDA: Front-to-Back will debut September 24-26, 2001 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
"Today there is a lack of any quick, easily accessible, and affordable means for designers to keep on top of the rapidly changing EDA industry,'' said Cheryl Ajluni, former EDA editor for Electronic Design and Conference Director for the event.
Penton has assembled a blue-ribbon advisory committee, including members of industry-leading EDA vendors. Avant!, Cadence, Mentor, and Synopsis have all pledged support for the conference. The Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDAC) and Accellera have agreed to sponsor the conference and provide content guidance.
EDA: Front-to-Back will consist of three primary components: a series of hands-on instructive conference sessions, a showcase featuring a presentation of vendor test-drive booths, and optional "meeting suites" for participating vendors.
The company said that the test-drive booths will be unique. Rather than the traditional trade-show booths, "test-drive" booths will be laid out in a hard-wall office-style format with presentation area that may include workstations or PCs. In pre-scheduled sessions, vendors will show designers how to use a particular tool or tips on how to tweak the use of a tool to better accommodate a particular application.
